Renowned Oshkosh Christian Kindergarten teacher Shannon Van Scyoc leads this unique summer program which takes place in a whimsical castle-like setting during the weeks of June 14 and 21.

The Reading Castle 1 – This pre-reading program designed for children ages 4 – Pre-K 5 year olds will provide learners with engaging, hands on activities that will fill each hour-long session with fun.  Delightful, daily themed lessons will include exposure to high frequency sight words, letter recognition and phonemic awareness.  Each enriching session will also include singing, storytelling, puppets, word snacks, and a time to encourage the emerging reader.

The Reading Castle 2 – This reading program is geared for post-Kindergarten 5 and 6 year olds to encourage emergent skills and promote an excitement for reading over the summer.  The castle setting will provide and enjoyable backdrop for the engaging hands-on and directed activities.  Each daily themed lesson will include activities addressing multiple intelligences, singing, puppets, a word snack, opportunity to build on individual reading skills, and exposure to high frequency sight words.  Each session will end with an amusing fictional story that has been written about the class.

Children in the Reading Castle 1 group will meet daily from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Registration fee for Reading Castle 1 is $30.   Reading Castle 2 learners will participate from 10:30 – 12:00 p.m. The Registration fee for Reading Castle 2 is $45.
